Trumpet Concerto - Joe Wolfe

This concerto for trumpet and orchestra was written for Anthony Heinrichs (of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra) and the Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra (a community orchestra). The recordings linked here were made at the first performance in Eastern Sydney on 21 September, 2003, conducted by Romano Crivici. The next performance is on 24 May, 2011 (details here).

About the composer. Joe Wolfe started writing music in the seventies and has since written sporadically for jazz and fusion groups, including incidental music for plays and films. He has written five other orchestral works: "The Stairway Suite" is a set of orchestral variations on the pop song "Stairway to Heaven" in the styles of Schubert, Holst, Glen Miller, Mahler, Bizet and Beethoven; "Sydney Sketches" is a set of tone poems, each of which is based in different Sydney location at a different time of day.; "Conjunction" which is an 'interactive introduction to the orchestra', written for orchestra and primary school choir; and an "Overture". His most recent work is "Circle of Fourths", a 5 minute work for orchestra. Scores, orchestral parts and mp3 files are available of most of these.
