Format:

This workshop is the ninth in the annual series on current topics in Condensed Matter Physics which are jointly organised by the School of Physics at The University of New South Wales and the Research School of Physical Sciences at The Australian National University.

This year the workshop will centre around twenty and thirty minute talks from the participants. There will be a generous amount of time set aside for formal and informal discussions.

Participation:

In the past few years we have seen a rush of exciting advances in the field of Condensed Matter Physics. Stunning new experiments have been realizable thanks to spectacular advances in technology. A common element in many of these developments has been the low dimensionality of the systems. This year the Gordon Godfrey Workshop will place emphasis on these systems, although not exclusively. The Workshop provides a once in the year opportunity for all the researchers and postgraduate students in condensed matter theory and its related fields to come together to exchange ideas and to identify new directions of research. Topics of talks and the time table will be sent to registrants in early November. The program will start and finish late and early enough for our interstate jetsetters to comfortably stay just for the day. We hope to hear from our local experts about their current activities and also where they envisage the new opportunities are.

Honours and post-graduate students are particularly welcome.
There may be a small amount of money available to partially support their travel to Sydney. Mention your needs in the "Special Concerns" space on the Registration Form.
