Welcome

You've reached the homepage of Martin Laird. I'm actually doing Medicine at Sydney Uni now, but I first did a combined Advanced Science/Arts student at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, majoring in Physics and Spanish. You can email me at: mpl@phys.unsw.edu.au

In S1 1999 I did an Astrophysics project: if by some chance you would like to look at the thesis you can ftp it from here: Period Variation and Large Scale Survey of RR Lyrae. In S2 I did a Biophysics project on Protein Crystallisation.

I play a lot of Ultimate Frisbee, a brilliant team sport played with a frisbee (flying disc).

I've helped to set up a relatively new league in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, based around UNSW. If you're interested in coming along to this league (all welcome!) or hearing more about it then subscribe to the UltimateESL mailing list:

I'm also the Universities Coordinator for the AFDA. If you would like to find out anything, or tell me anything, about University Ultimate, then please email me.

The major event to happen in University Ultimate each year is the Australian University Championships. In 2000 the 3rd official AUC will be hosted in July by Flinders University. Check out the details and results at the 2000 AUC Website .

Other stuff

One other thing I'll tell you about, I finished high school at an International School in New Mexico (in the US), called the Armand Hammer United World College of the American West (or AHUWCAW for short!). If you're interested in the United World Colleges, have a look at the UWC International homepage, or if you want to know more about UWC in Australia, including how to apply, go to the UWC Australia site.

I made a number of great friends when I was there that I still keep up with. Here's a link to one of their websites:

Photos

Here are some (rather old) photos of me! I've put them on separate pages so you can load them as you desire...

The End

So there you have it...for now. Hardly the most impressive thing on the Web, but it's a start! One day I might put some new photos up... Martin
