Millimetre Wave Astronomy

Science Open Meeting: Call for Papers

School of Physics, University of New South Wales

Wednesday November 30, 2005, 1:00pm- 5:00pm

Common Room (Room 64), School of Physics, Main Building (K14 on linked map)

The past millimetre-wave observing season has seen the use of the full 5-element array for 3mm interferometry at the ATCA, and a new receiver and correlator system for Mopra, amongst a number of enhancements to the capabilities for mm-wave astronomy in Australia. The high over-subscription rate for the telescopes reflects the great interest, both at home and overseas, in using the new mm-wave facilities. With the completion of the observing season we are holding a meeting so that some of the many results obtained can be presented. It is also a timely opportunity to discuss future directions for the mm-wave program, both in the light of new capability in Australia (eg the forthcoming 7mm system, the 8 GHz correlator for Mopra and broadband backends for the ATCA), and with the international developments taking place in Chile.

We invite you to attend, and also to make a brief presentation on any results obtained with Australia's mm-wave facilities.

Please also register (see after program) if you wish to attend, and also if you wish to give a presentation. Time will be short, so speakers are asked to focus their presentations on their new data.

We also ask all speakers to consider using their last slide to comment on future directions for their investigation given current and future mm-facilities. This will help provide input to the mm-wave white paper now being drafted.
