Venus Clouds
AAT - IRIS2 - Dec 2005

These images show changes in the cloud structure seen on the Venus
night side over 3 nights in December 2005.
The images are taken at a wavelength of 2.3 microns and show the clouds
in silhouette against the hot lower atmosphere,
with the overexposed sunlit crescent on the left of each image. The
cloud structure changes almost completely
from one night to the next due to the rapid "superrotation" of the
upper atmosphere.
