Electrical Safety

Area Supervisors must:

Ensure all electrical equipment is properly maintained and serviced as required
Ensure all new electrical equipment is tested and tagged
Provide a risk assessment for all electrical equipment
Ensure that all electrical testing and tagging schedules are maintained on an annual or five-yearly cycle as appropriate.

All staff and students must:

Take care when using electrical equipment
Refrain from using equipment or power outlets that are visibly damaged
Report any electrical hazard as soon as possible, and place a notice warning of the hazard in front of the equipment or power outlet
Refrain from approaching a person receiving an electric shock until the power source has been isolated
If witnessing a person receiving an electric shock, immediately contact Security Services on 56666 (internal phone) or 93856666 (external phone).
