Electrical Safety
Area Supervisors must:
- Ensure all electrical equipment is properly
maintained and serviced as required
- Ensure all new electrical equipment is
tested and tagged
- Provide a risk assessment for all
electrical equipment
- Ensure that all electrical testing and
tagging schedules are maintained on an annual or five-yearly
cycle as appropriate.
All staff and students must:
- Take care when using electrical equipment
- Refrain from using equipment or power
outlets that are visibly damaged
- Report any electrical hazard as soon as
possible, and place a notice warning of the hazard in front of
the equipment or power outlet
- Refrain from approaching a person receiving
an electric shock until the power source has been isolated
- If witnessing a person receiving an
electric shock, immediately contact Security Services on 56666
(internal phone) or 93856666 (external phone).
Qualified PAT testpersons in the
School of Physics
