The Optoelectronics group is part of the Condensed Matter Physics Department in the University of New South Wales, School of Physics. Our group, which is headed by Professor Mike Gal, has conducted pioneering research in the area of optical spectroscopy of semiconductors and semiconductor quantum structures for the past two decades. Our current research activities are focused on the development of silicon based photonics and optical biosensors. Our research facilities include a large laser spectroscopy laboratory and a device fabrication laboratory. We have active collaborations with a number of research groups within Australia and overseas.
