Theme Song "Manic Monday" by The Bangles

Hurray, heaps more stuff is working today than was yesterday! I finally worked out with the planet computer that the hard drives would detect if I took them out of their fancy hotswappable cases and then I began rebuilding the RAID array (the thing that stores all the data which was previously not working!). As I was walking to lunch I was quite happily thinking to myself "Well, I just successfully recovered my first RAID array!". Then I thought about it a bit more and had to admit to myself that all I had successfully done was type out some commands that someone else had written down for me. Oh well, it still felt good :)

On phobos and deimos we got quite a few more important programs working that hadn't been previously - the temperature sensors, the sendmail program that sends us mail (obviously) to let us know how things are going with the system, and some others which would be far too boring to explain. Colin prepared the top of the AASTO for new U.S and Australian flags, and we came up with a plan for focussing the camera even though the camera drivers still don't work in the new kernel - reboot in the old kernel and do it there! We have asked Jason, the software guru back in San Fransisco, to contact the camera company and ask them to recompile the camera drivers in the new kernel. It would be quite unfortunate if we got everything working except the camera before we left!

Today we also got offered a couple of extra days if we want them (I think the sight of our increasingly anxious faces around the station was starting to get to people). Doug and I nominated Colin since he seems to be the most useful, but we'll see what happens :)
