FIRST YEAR PHYSICS SUMMER SESSION 2012/2013

PHYS1221 Physics 1B and PHYS1231 Higher Physics 1B will be offered in the Summer Session 2012/2013 for mid-year start and other physics students.

For PHYS1221 Physics 1B: Prerequisite: PHYS1121; Corequisite: MATH1231 or MATH1241

For PHYS1231 Higher Physics 1B: Prerequisite: PHYS1131; Corequisite: MATH1231 or MATH1241

The Summer Session commences on Monday 26 November 2012 and continues till Thursday 31 January 2013, with 2 weeks break for the Holiday period (20th December 2012 to 6th January 2013).

In both subjects there will be:

  • 4.5 lecture hours per week
  • 2 problem solving class hours per week and 3 laboratory hours per week
  • Formal examinations will be held at the end of the summer session (8 - 13 February 2013). To be eligible to sit for the examinations a student must attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours assigned to the subject.

Any student wishing to enrol in Physics Summer Session must do so during late October - early November via the University web site: https://my.unsw.edu.au

Note on Summer Session

  • Fees? Please refer to UNSW Student Fees
  • Attendance of at least 80% of all summer session classes is mandatory. If you do not attend 80% of all classes you will be failed in the subject irrespective of your performance on the assessment tasks.
  • Projects run in the first 3 weeks of the summer session labs. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CATCH-UP THESE LABS, YOU MUST ATTEND.
