Assessment in First Year Physics Courses Term 1 & Term 2, 2013
Note: Assessment procedures are different from previous sessions

Students MUST pass each assessment component of the course, as well as completing ALL laboratory exercises in order to pass PHYS0001, PHYS1111, PHYS1149, PHYS1121, PHYS1131, PHYS1211, PHYS1221, PHYS1231 and PHYS1241.

PHYS1111 Fundamentals of Physics
The course assessment is composed of a laboratory mark, exam and quiz marks. Students MUST pass each assessment component of the course, as well as completing ALL laboratory exercises and quizzes in order to pass the course. The relative weightings are:

Laboratory mark: 30%
Quizes: 20%
End of session Final Exam 50%

PHYS1149 Physics 1 (Aviation)
The course assessment is composed of a laboratory mark, exam and quiz marks. Students MUST pass each assessment component of the course, as well as completing ALL laboratory exercises and quizzes in order to pass the course. The relative weightings are:

The course assessment is composed of participation in discussion groups, in online excercises and in writing an essay. There are also two online tests tha must be completed. This course is taught entirely online on Moodle.

PHYS1110 Everyday Physics
The course assessment is composed of laboratory exercises that you complete at home with common household equipment, four online quizzes (every three weeks) and a final report in which you investigate the physics behind an everyday phenomenon. You will also need to give feedback on the final reports belonging to other students.
