Introduction

Scanning tunnelling microscopy studies are carried out in vacuum and air on various materials.

Quantum interference effects in the electron standing waves between tip and semiconductor sample have been found. Current-voltage curves measured with an STM tip moving over a "formed" semiconductor structure have shown unequivocally the formation of micro transistor regions.
