GENS4010 Science and Religion

Student Comments

  • This subject is a very interesting and interactive one.
  • I found this subject very interesting and enjoyable. Some of the tutorial discussions were helpful in seeing other people's views. The lectures were informative and this session I have learnt a lot about the relationship between science and religion and have come to a better understanding of what I believe.
  • Having reached the end of the course I am more aware of the delicacy of the issues surrounding science and religion. Changes in Science have the potential to affect Religion in numerous ways. What I have learnt from this course is to keep an open mind to everything. With so many changes you can't afford not to!
  • I think that, in general, Science and Religion was a very interesting course that covered most of the major topics that come up in the debate of science against religion. I did find, however, that the Chaos and Uncertainty lecture and tutorial were a little hard for everyone to understand, considering that it is a General Education course and not everyone has much of a background in Physics. I would have been more interested in a topic that was suggested in one of the lectures, and that is a lecture and tutorial on the end of the universe - what the different religious groups believe will happen, what the scientists think and also what the atheists predict.

[A lecture has now been added on The End of the Universe].

  • I'm really glad I was able to do this course. It has got me thinking about a lot of issues which, as a Christian, I will eventually have to deal with and reach a conclusion about.
  • This course dealt with a wide range of topics which were all important to cover such a vast range of issues. The structure and facilities were adequate and the progression through the course was also good. My criticisms would be that the course tried to cover too many topics. It was the case in nearly every tutorial that a whole, vital section of a topic had to be ignored or left unargued due to time constraints.
  • I enjoyed it. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Ideas and notions I had passed over for years were finally encapsulated and many more were added to their number.
