FIRST YEAR PHYSICS SUMMER SESSION 2009/2010

PHYS1221 PHYSICS 1B and PHYS1231 HIGHER PHYSICS 1B

For mid-year start and other physics students, the courses PHYS1221 Physics 1B and PHYS1231 Higher Physics 1B will be offered in the Summer Session 2009/2010.

The Summer Session commences on Monday 23rd November 2009 and continues till Friday 29th January 2010, with 2 weeks break for the Holiday period.

In both subjects there will be:

  • 4.5 lecture hours per week
  • 2 tutorial hours per week and 3 laboratory hours per week
  • Formal examinations will be held in Week 4 and at the end of the summer session. To be eligible to sit for the examinations a student must attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours assigned to the subject.

Any student wishing to enrol in Physics Summer Session must do so during late October/November via the University web site: https://my.unsw.edu.au

Enrolments start on (TBA). The last day for enrolment is (TBA).

Students who are unsure of their position in the courses PHYS1121, PHYS1221, PHYS1131 and PHYS1231 may obtain an indication of their physics results on 20th November by attending the First Year Physics Teaching Unit in person.

Note on Summer Session

  • The standard 1 session HECS/fee charges will apply to summer session enrolment.
  • Attendance of at least 80% of all summer session classes is mandatory. If you do not attend 80% of all classes you will be failed in the subject irrespective of your performance on the assessment tasks.
