Additional Assessment

  • In first year physics courses additional assessment is available for Test 1 and Test 2 .
  • Additional assessment may be granted along the guidelines given in the UNSW STUDENT GUIDE.
  • Additional assessment will be of the same format as the other tests.
    If you apply for special consideration for Test 1 you will be notified of the outcome by email to your student email account.
    If you apply for special consideration for Test 2 you will be notified of the outcome on your official University result posted on myUNSW http://my.unsw.edu.au
    ('WC' result means that you have been granted additional assessment for medical reasons, and 'WD' means results withheld, contact first year office as soon as possible. )
  • The time and and location of the supplementary examinations will be posted on the notice boards outside the Room LG03, OMB, and on the first year physics web site.
  • You must ensure you will be available on that day, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
BEING INTERSTATE OR OVERSEAS WORKING OR ON HOLIDAY WILL NOT BE REGARDED AS EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

For End-of-Session 1 (Term 1) Examinations

  • Test 1R (Additional Assessment for Mid-Session Test 1)
    Additional assessment will be of the same format as Test 1.
    If you apply for special consideration for Test 1 you will be notified of the outcome by email to your student email account 8-10 days before the additional assessment.
    The time and and location of the Additional Assessment will be posted on the notice boards outside the Room LG03, OMB, and on the first year physics web site: http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/COURSES/FIRST_YEAR/index.html
    The Test 1R will be held on Friday 22nd May 2009.
    This will be the only opportunity given to you to take this additional assessment.


  • Test 2R (Additional Assessment for Final Examination Test 2)
    If you are granted additional assessment you must contact the First Year Physics Teaching Unit (either in person or by telephone) as soon as possible, and no later than 20th July 2009 .
  • You will be registered for the additional assessment. You will not be permitted to undertake the additional assessment if you just 'turn up on the day' unregistered.
  • The time and and location of the Additional Assessment will be posted on the notice boards outside the Room LG03, OMB, and on the first year physics web site: http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/COURSES/FIRST_YEAR/index.html
  • The additional assessment will be held on Friday 24th July 2009 .
    This will be the only opportunity given to you to take this additional assessment.
  • Hence you must ensure you will be available on that day, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
  • BEING INTERSTATE OR OVERSEAS WORKING OR ON HOLIDAY WILL NOT BE REGARDED AS EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

  • The mark you gain in a test attempted in your Session 1 additional assessment will be used for your final mark.

For Session 2 (Term 2) Examinations

  • Test 1R (Additional Assessment for Mid-Session Test 1)
    Additional assessment will be of the same format as Test 1.
    If you apply for special consideration for Test 1 you will be notified of the outcome by email to your student email account 8-10 days before the additional assessment.
    The time and and location of the Additional Assessment will be posted on the notice boards outside the Room LG03, OMB, and on the first year physics web site.
    The Test 1R will be held on Friday 18th September 2009.
    This will be the only opportunity given to you to take this additional assessment.


  • Test 2R (Additional Assessment for Final Examination Test 2)
    If you are granted additional assessment you must contact the First Year Physics Teaching Unit (either in person or by telephone) as soon as possible, and no later than 1 December 2009 .
  • You will be registered for the additional assessment. You will not be permitted to undertake the additional assessment if you just 'turn up on the day' unregistered.
    If you apply for special consideration for the end of Session 2 examination and are granted additional assessment on the basis of that application, you may elect to enrol in the Summer Session instead of attempting the additional assessment.
  • Note however, if you elect to do the Summer Session then you cannot also complete the additional assessment.
  • The additional assessment will be held on Friday 4th December 2009 .
    This will be the only opportunity given to you to take this additional assessment.
  • Hence you must ensure you will be available on that day, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
  • BEING INTERSTATE OR OVERSEAS WORKING OR ON HOLIDAY WILL NOT BE REGARDED AS EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

  • The mark you gain in a test attempted in your Session 2 additional assessment will be used for your final mark.

For Summer Session Examinations

    • Test 1R (Additional Assessment for Mid-Session Test 1)
      If you are granted additional assessment you must contact the First Year Physics Teaching Unit (either in person or by telephone) as soon as possible, and no later than TBA .
    • You will be registered for the additional assessment. You will not be permitted to undertake the additional assessment if you just 'turn up on the day' unregistered.
    • The Test 1R will be held on TBA.
      This will be the only opportunity given to you to take this additional assessment.


    • Test 2R (Additional Assessment for Final Examination Test 2)
      If you are granted additional assessment you must contact the First Year Physics Teaching Unit (either in person or by telephone) as soon as possible, and no later than TBA .
    • You will be registered for the additional assessment. You will not be permitted to undertake the additional assessment if you just 'turn up on the day' unregistered.
    • The additional assessment will be held on TBA.
      This will be the only opportunity given to you to take this additional assessment.
    • Hence you must ensure you will be available on that day, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
