Observations of distant supernovae have indicated that the universe in
not only expanding, but that the rate of expansion is accelerating. This
intriguing result has given birth to the theory that the universe is
infused with a mysterious substance known as dark energy. The hunt is on
to discover the properties of dark energy and discover amazing new
physics in the process. One of the ways in which dark energy imprints
its signature on the Universe is through its influence on the formation
of structure such as galaxies, groups and clusters.
In this talk I will review the basics of dark energy and present recent
results from N-Body simulations studying the effects of dark energy on
structure formation.
