This site presents some of our research work.
It also has pages written as an introduction to aspects of musical acoustics and the physics of sound for the general reader.

  • Researchers and research projects in acoustics in the School of Physics. This link gives an introduction to all of our research projects in acoustics and a list of selected publications. You can also meet the people - graduate students, staff and visitors - working in the Lab
  • Flute acoustics. An index to a collection of acoustical measurements of flutes. It includes sound files and several pages of introductory material.
  • Shakuhachi acoustics. Preliminary information about our acoustical measurements of the shakuhachi.
  • Violin acoustics. An index to a several pages about the acoustics of bowed string instruments, including several pages of introductory material.
  • Guitar acoustics. This site gives some information on our work on the guitar, especially investigations about vibration modes of the top plate. There is also some introductory information.
