2. Detach Slit Hand Control from hook on
Dome and plug into nearest power outlet. Switch on the power. Open the
slit to the required altitude. Lower altitudes can be masked out by
releasing and holding the chain attached to the catch prior to opening
the slit. If you wish to view only lower altitudes you must drive the
slit back until it engages the conecting latch and then re-open it.
Push the Hand Control lever FORWARD to OPEN the slit,
OFF to STOP and REVERSE to CLOSE the slit.
Once the Slit is in the required position; switch off and unplug from
the wall and re-attach the cable and hand control switch to the hook
on the dome. This will prevent the cable from becoming entangled or
getting in the way of the telescope or operators. 3. Turn on the Power for the dome rotator.
The dome rotator power switch and operating lever is located on the
Southern wall of the Dome. When ROTATING the Dome ALLWAYS
WARN PEOPLE so that the can stand clear and keep fingers clear of
the rotating equipment.

When working upstairs in the dome; the
dimmer switches for the white maintenance lights and red working lights
are located on the stair wall. Always ensure that the GATE AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS IS CLOSED
when you are upstairs. This is to prevent accidental falls as you can
become disoriented in the dark.
